I would recommend the following book:
Coordinate measuring machines and systems
by John A. Bosch
Dekker 1995
The book has 15 chapters each one written by a different big shot of the industry. Although it does not explain how to use any particular CMM it explains the science behind the machines.
Some of the topics are: history about measurement and the first CMMs. Types of CMMs, accessories and software. Temperature and environmental control. Performance evaluations. Typical applications. Factors to consider when purchasing a CMM, and future trends.
I would recommend this book to all CMM users. It is the only text book about the subject that I know of. If anyone knows of other textbooks about CMMs please let me know.
If you buy it, just make sure the company pays for it because it is $155.00
