Dear Manoj,

Greetings!

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Brown & Sharpe encoders. We appreciate all feedback, as it will help us to improve our product.

Our engineers were made aware of a manufacturing process problem (resulting in intermittent performance) with our encoders during the middle of 1999. The process was corrected at the end of October 1999.

All of our encoders have a test date code on them consisting of the year followed by the week. Therefore an encoder with 9944 as a date code would have been tested in week 44 of year 1999. Any 99XX date code before 9944 might have a problem while we believe any encoder with a date code of 9944 or later should be fine.

As the improvement process is continuing we encourage all users encountering encoder problems to return them to Brown & Sharpe for further evaluation. Faulty encoders will be replaced.

With very best regards,
