I am a Sheffield programmer who is working on an evaluation of SILMA for multiple sites/CMM types within the company.

One problem that I have run across with the MM4 post in SILMA is that it does not provide for the switch between 2D and 3D measurement modes.

My question is...Are there any inherent risks associated with creating an entire MM4 program in 3D vs. switching between 2D and 3D as needed?

I have run a few test programs both ways and did not see any apparent differences in the results.
