I’ve written an easy to use QUINDOS command which automatically creates a bar chart for each measured feature. The charts mimics the ‘column gauges’ used in multi-point transducer fixtures. Features in tolerance are shown as green bars, the length and direction of the bar being related to the tolerance utilization. Out of tolerance features are shown as ‘full scale deflection’ red bars, the direction of the bar showing if the part is too large or too small. The command was originally written for use on shop floor CMMs, as a quick and unambiguous indication as to whether the manufacturing process is in control or not.
