We are a small contract metrology company in Portland Oregon. Searching for a paperless system and not finding it, we set out on our own to build a data collection and analysis system which could be used to collect data from any measuring equipment.
The application name is MetBase and provides UMESS 300 users a bridge to the information highway without costly Zeiss conversion fees.
On the UX side it replaces Zeiss STRATA. On all platforms it provides a centralized management system for metrology and engineering.
The system runs on Windows nn/NT and comprises a relational database and the drivers needed to communicate with the equipment.
Data is collected into the database and output i.e. reporting is standard across all measuring platforms.
The system provides for full Part Program revision control including programs created in third party tools like Silma. OEM ASCII files are cataloged, processed and stored in the database. (We program offline on a PC in MultiEdit).
File storage including CMM programs and inspection data, is on the Windows side of the system. The machine acts only as a data collector.
SPC is accomplished with OLE automation and EXCEL. We have drivers for UMESS 300 and UX and will begin construction of Sheffield MeasureMax drivers in MAY.
We have a design specification for USOFT and plan to link it after MeasureMax depending on market interest.
MetBase has been in development since 1995 and we are currently looking for interested BETA sites.
This system allows seamless communication between Windows nn/NT and UMESS 300 & UX equipment.
