Donald:
They are a lot easier to use and learn. Most of the key strokes are common sense. I know a person who used Tutor for years and took a contract job to write programs in PC DMIS. He said he only had a few set backs but it was not too difficult at all. Here is the catch, he has never taken a class for PC DMIS. The only assistance he had was the users manual. When I first started using LK DMIS the only thing I had ever used was a test set indicator and a TI-35 on a Portage and a Sheffield with Geomet software. In a very short period of time after the training class I was moving on to some of the simple high level capabilities. I now know PC DMIS and LK DMIS pretty well and I have even dabbled with WinCMES. I love the capabilities the newer softwares are giving. It was well worth the expense for me and the company I use to work for. It took about a day and a half to two days off of PPAP inspections. However it is a big pill to swallow so maybe you should see about more training from Giddings first. It might save you a lot of cash and time. Best of luck!
