We purchased our ScanMax back in June of 1998. I believe we had one of the first four machines in this hemisphere. We got away from the idea of the operators using the machine with in a week of the training. We had a floor inspector, a lab tech., and an engineer and myself take the training. Of those I was the only one who fully grasped the way the machine worked and was able to adjust to the manual probe. So we decided to dedicate the machine to capability studies, FPA's and other special projects along with some need floor applications. Right no we run our ScanMax about 18 to 20 hours a day. Our engineering department prefers it to the old bridge type DEA we have in the lab. It is by far one of the greatest machines for inspection in the application you describe.
The accuracy and repeatability is often quite astounding. I preform at least one MSE a week on the machine and would be glad to supply you with examples.
As the tilt table goes, it is a must for us. If you have controlled dimensions on multiple sides, this little accessory will pay for itself.
I'd like you to give me a call so I may answer your questions in better detail. I look forward to hearing from you and hope I can be of some help.
