The third annual International Dimensional Workshop (IDW2001) is scheduled to be held May 7 - 10, 2001 at the Hyatt Regency Knoxville. 16 Internationally known speakers will present papers on one of the following subjects. Measurement Uncertainty, Accreditation, Traceability, Application of New Technologies on the Shop Floor, New and Emerging Technologies. In addition to the speakers there will be a forum on the last day on Measurement Uncertainty. There will also be 60 exhibit booths with many of the major dimensional manufacturers and suppliers showing their latest equipment and services. On the Monday preceding the workshop there will be a training session that afternoon on Measurement Uncertainty for Beginners. The session will be taught by a member of the Statistics group at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. The cost for this training session will be $50 and the class will be limited to 25 people. IDW2001 has added a second training seminar to its Monday calendar. Dr. Jim Salsbury, Chief Metrologist for Mitutoyo America will teach a class the morning of May 7th. The session is entitled: "CMM Performance Testing and Uncertainty". The class will run from 8:30 till Noon and will cost $100. Class size is limited to 40 and details and registration forms can be obtained from the Workshop Director at the number above.
