We have an old Mitutoyo with Geopak on DOS 3.1 and a PH9 head. As our head has aged, the triggering force has become an increasing problem.

1)An older mechanism will have a weaker trigger requiring less force to trigger it.
2)If you have recently increased the weight of your
setup (added a second probe, extra extensions, or a star cluster) you have as a by-product decreased the required triggering force.

1&2 may be solved by increasing your triggering force. Consult your Renishaw manual for instructions.

In our case increasing the trigger force did not entirely solve the problem. We also had to ramp down our speeds so that we weren't "jerking" the trigger during acceleration and deceleration.

If you find that this does help but does not eliminate the problem you may want to decrease your styli load or consider replacing or reconditioning your PH9.

If this does not help...Good Luck and maybe someone else can direct you to another problem area.
