I appreciate your comments. I will explore the software that you have mentioned. I have also been advised to look into an application called 'checkmate' (www.origin.com) which can generate the type of maps we are talking about. I'll let you know if anything significant comes out of it.

I have to admit, CimStation appears to be a bit weak in this area, but that is not to say that maps 'cannot' be created with the tools available. It is just that to produce a good quality map you must invest what I view as an 'excessive' amount of time in it's creation (maps take longer to produce than the actual programs!). Our inspection routines are quite thorough and as a result our maps can be, at times, a bit 'cumbersome'. I am convinced that there must be a better way.
