I think that SNSET/APPRCH is probably what is affecting you. The CMM will attempt to move to APPRCH above the point along the surface normal before taking the point. SNSET/RETRCT is only applied AFTER the point measurement.

If you go to UTILITIES>CONFIG>MORE you can also disable the function which causes the CMM to position at APPRCH along the point vector. However, be careful doing this as you may have to program extra moves.
