I have tried setting the approach and retract to .010". This should give me ample room to get in and out of the slot, but it still does not keep the machine for crashing. I think I forgot to mention in the first post that this move that causes the crash to happen is taking place before the probe drives down into the slot to position for the measurement. It even shows up in CAMIO when I have the model loaded. I'll try playing with it some more, and If I don't have any luck, I'll bring the model with me to our training class. BTW, did I mention I'm from Chrysler and we just purchased our first LK CMM for the Kokomo Casting plant? ( say hey to Dave Gray) The Only training I have had so far is what I've read out of the books. One more thing you may be able to help me with. I just installed a SCR200 Tip changer, and I'm having problems with the probe wanting to move so close to the changer face, that it some times triggers and illegal touch, is there a config setting or machine variable that I can set to move the probe further away from the face when doing tip changes? I ran the supplied dmi program that walked me thru setting up the changer.
Thanks
