how i do it is to user define a stylus. cause i'm using a 3" dia ring enter dia value as negative three inch(-3.0000). then call up that stylus number and make it active. load your pin into the probe and do a diameter using three or more points,(i like to use eight myself). the resulting diameter reported will be the apparent size of the pin as the machine sees it. go back and user define a stylus and input the diameter that the machine gave you. all done.
this will be necessary to do it again if you add extensions between stylus and probe, cause the apparent diameter that the machine sees will get smaller as the total stylus gets longer. if you need to set a depth, first do all of the above, then turn projection off. take a single Uncompensated hit on top of part. set this point as Z origin then turn projection back on(XY).all this takes less than twenty seconds to do after you get used to it.
hope this helps. dwayne3-16-01
