What I would do here is called CYA (cover your a**) Measure the call out anyway and document it for your own personal files. At your managers request I would remove the callout from the report but ask them to sign off on it. Keep a copy of that as well. When the customer brings this omission to your attention, remind your boss and lay the cards on the table. Chances are it will not happen again too soon.
