I am trying to write cmm programs offline, prior to receiving the part for first piece inspection.
This is difficult to do because you need to know what state the part will be in.
Some dimensions may be finished, while others may be roughed out or ommited until a later operation.

I am using Mastercam to write cnc programs.
Visually, I can see the machined part (at it's current stage of manufacture) on my computer, with remaining stock shown.
However, Mastercam will not save that as an IGES file (which would be optimal).
I would then use that model to program the cmm prior to first piece inspection.

I have also considered the possibility that software exists which would take the cnc program and "backplot" it to a cad file.
Obviously, the user would have to define tooling and stock size.

I welcome any suggestions.
