Has this company had a bad experience with CMM inspection...do they still believe the earth is flat ? Seriously though, I can understand someone being apprehensive about the money for newer inspection technology (that's why companies like mine exist) but to consider the height gauge and indicator a more accurate means is ludicrous ! QIT calibrates measuring instruments including height gauges and indicators and it seems that many people assume the instruments they use are "perfect" when in fact they all have their own respective errors. For instance, an 18" or 24" Mitutoyo digital height gauge has an allowable error of ±0.002" over the entire range. This doesn't even take into account possible error from the indicator or the operator.
