The problem is that some people do not understand datum structures, GD&T, gauges or three-dimensional measurement. I have seen some program managers spend millions of dollars trying to discredit coordinate measurement systems including CMM’s as well as theodolite and laser tracking systems. Then you have some engineers that will run you ragged with flat-tolerances from lines of holes and so forth.
My recommendation is that you send these folks to GD&T school, and then show them the real world of manufacturing and product evaluation!
Good Luck!
