More comments from me. Several of you have stated that perp defined on a drawing for sheet metal and plastic refers to "normal to the surface" or direction of the punch or mold draw.

I'd like to see it in writing, a standard, written by ASME or ASQ or some kind of metal stamping association as to the definition of the perp call out for sheet metal or plastic before I would push that as a resource for reference.

Otherwise you simply have to rely on the engineer's intent and lack of knowledge (common sense) concerning the use of such a call out for thin materials.

Otherwise if it data he wants, it's data he gets. and when they ask me why is looks so bad, then I will tell him the why's and how's and he will just have to deal it.
