Leonard,
Obviously, the best machine is the machine that is going to do your parts and give you the results you want regardless of the manufacture. I would encourage you to really check out each one and don't buy into any "hype", and there is a lot of it out there, find the CMM and software that will give you the best return on investment.
Don't buy a machine after seeing the "canned demo", ask if you can see the machine run your parts, send the parts to the applications engineer about a week early so he has time to properly check the part. Then after you see the part run and like what you see ask them how are they going to get you there, what kind of training and after sales support will they commit. (It is one thing to see your part run by someone who knows the software and your abilities to duplicate that.) Will after sales support cost you money? Is this a "set and forget" operation? How much will upgrades cost?
In other words do your homework and don't settle just another piece of equipment that will never be used. In the end, when it is all said and done, you will have to live with your purchase make sure it is the best one.
