Would be the same thing as having the operator place the stylus in the hole and translate to it. In DMIS the command would be:

MEAS/POINT, F(STARTPT), 0
ENDMES
D(CS) = TRANS/XORIG, FA(STARTPT), YORIG, FA(STARTPT), ZORIG, FA(STARTPT)

Notice that zero point features found on the measurement statement, therefore the system will measure a point in space depending on where the stylus is at that moment.
