Duane, the single axis you refer to would be the same as the vector for the point you are measuring, correct ? So whether you move/rotate the origin to this point and measure for a 0,0,0 nominal point or measure it from it's datum structure origin should make no difference as long as you probe the point along the normal surface vector.
