You will find attached, the response to this subject by Eng. Calvin Gomez of the ASME. Although not a formal interpretation, Calvin has given a fairly detailed explanation of which I happen to agree with. Also, I have included another past letter I posted that was deleted due to server problems on this website. I accept that in reply calvin has covered the issues to that as well. Even still my expectations of changes to the ASME standards have not been met. Just to formally clear the record of whether or not it is acceptable to establish datums off the part, I would still like to see his interpretation become part of the Y14 Document. Wouldn't you?
