As you may know, DMIS 04.0 has been released to the public as the new DMIS standard. In this, the committee has approved and added significant capabilities with regards to your subject. The command in the standard that would give you this capability would be the "varname=VALUE/var_1" command.

The only issue may be that obviously, since 04.0 is pretty new, not all Software applications will support the full range of capabilities now available. You can obtain a copy of the standard from CAM-I at WWW.CAM-I.ORG.
