O.K. we have a PH10M head with a TP2 and using PC Dmis 3.2063. We are measuring aluminum castings. We normally use a 2X40mm length but do have other sizes and lengths we change to occasionally. We use a tension gage to check the grams and normally set it to @10-12.

My question is this. After calibrating the sphere you look at the results and the stnd dev. are all under .0003" (usually). I realize there is a correlation to the grams and the results, but if the grams are too high or low will you notice the change in the stnd dev. or not?? Is there any info. out there to let you know the details of the correct settings?? I know the Renishaw info. tells you how to set it, but it does not correlate it to a sphere calibration which we all do for tips. Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!
