Ok, Nix the floating datums. It appears that the -C- and -D- datums ie., hole and slot were at one time assigned to completely different holes w/o TP tolerance. When an engineering change moved them to their current location, the GM engineer failed to remove the old TP tolerance on the new selection of holes for the datums. Our engineer seems to have thought to himself "Ah what luck, more tolerance" and kept the TP 1.0 MMC on the new secondary and tertiary datum holes.

I'm sure we've all been there "wish they would keep me more informed". Guess we let the cat out of the bag on them again. But then I rather enjoyed myself in doing so. The engineers have agreed to go with the alignment I chose in the beginning and blow away the datum location tolerance. Gotta change the fixture back now too. Thanks again for everyone's part in this.
