I can't speak for our competitors, but the iterative alignment algorithm in PC-DMIS has long been recognized as one of its greatest strengths. With this algorithm we can get a good alignment with 6 randomly selected points (or other features). I know one company that bought PC-DMIS because of this feature alone.
