Perhaps but for now I tend to disagree. I was reading on CMMTalk that Scanning/Digitizing and Visual Systems are great tools for the Engineer and primarily in use at your local design firm. The question was addressed but not fully answered as to wether or not they will become the future for inspecting production parts. As for the real world and like myself the end user of CMM Data it promotes overkill with respect to reporting. Having understood this simple observation I do not foresee them becoming mainstream in the CMM Lab. Rather the solution is simple key characteristic inspection that is more the tool of choice for resolving complex manufacturing problems. Chalk one up for the touch trigger probe CMM!
