Hello
I am new to using PC-DMIS and have little training.
I am using scans to compare some complex geometry with imported CAD data.
In the Scan form I have selected FIND NOMS and RELEARN, but I find it necessary to input a ‘Find Noms. Tolerance’ as large as 0.7 in order that nominals will be found for all hits. However, I do not understand the implications of having such a high tolerance value. How does it effect the validity of the given deviations?

For some scans, when I select GENERATE I get an error message that says ‘Can not find part’ and gives me the option of erasing or saving the scan. I have been saving and the machine then goes on to take all the hits when I select CREATE. As with the case above, I am questioning the validity of the given deviations from the CAD data.

I felt that altering the hit spacings might be the solution in the case of the failure to generate the scans but my experimentation to date has not shown me any pattern.
Perhaps someone could give me some tips as I need to be more confident of the results.

Many Thanks in anticipation
Brian
