I am a fairly new user with ambition to become a whizz at operating our CMM. One problem I've run into is trying to use the star probe to successfully and automatically measure a feature in a CNC program. My program does not recognize which of five probes to use. It always ends up crashing into the part causing the "unexpected probing" message to pop up. How do I write the program so that the right probe is used when trying to use the automatic measure function when writing the program. I understand that I can manually measure the feature (eg: a sphere) by pain-stakingly choosing the corresponding probe doing the probing. I have come to believe that using the auto measure capability gives more accurate hits by probing perpendicular to the surface. I would like to begin using the star probe to write my programs, but without solving my current problem, my hands are tied. Can anyone help by giving me advice? Or, should I just abandon the idea?
