When it comes to reporting a unilateral profile result I am a bit fuzzy. Lets say I am allowed a 0.20 unilateral profile tolerance (+0.20/-0) and my worst deviation is +0.12 and does not deviate below 0. I would report it as using a 0.12 tolerance band since it is unilateral rather than reporting a 0.24 (0.12 x 2) band as in a bi-lateral profile tolerance. What is your method of reporting this type of profile ? What if the results range from -0.05 to +0.12, how would you report it then ? I find profile is not fully expressed as a single number but rather requires some supporting numbers and/or illustrations.
