CMM_PRO misunderstood, and misrepresented, my statements.

I said that the method would be via DMIS, or via XYZ data.

I said that I suspect that LK-DMIS offers capabilities which are not covered by the standard. I know PC-DMIS does. Fanamation used to have one of the most pure DMIS codes. I understand that it offered capabilities above and beyond the standard at that time. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING! The programmer simply needs to understand that any capabilities not covered in the standard cannot and will not be translatable.

I also don't know whether LK-DMIS includes the DMIS translator in the STANDARD product. Many packages have this as an option (QUINDOS, MicroMeasure IV - they may be B&S products, but that doesn't change the facts about what is considered standard and what is considered optional) . If it is optional, then the programmer will have to make sure that he or she purchased the option.

As a general statement, there may also be version considerations. MicroMeasure IV and QUINDOS only support DMIS through version 2.1. LK-DMIS, like PC-DMIS and VirtualDMIS, supports 3.0. Therefore, it is possible that not everything will translate.

The fact that PC-DMIS uses proprietary code is absolutely irrelevant. It only means that we rely on a translator.
