Hi Terry
I do a lot of data transfer to Excel, Word and Access. I use WINCMES only when I do this. The most reliable way of doing this that I have found is to use VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) which is built into the Office Products (Office 97) or you can use Visual Basics Software Development Tool.
I can create any custom report and am able to manipulate the data that WINCMES generates any way that I need to.
That includes putting data into specific cells. It use to take me hours to create these reports manually, now it takes a few seconds and the risk of any typo's it basically gone as the data is transferred directly from the CMM data programmically into Excel, Word or Access.
I have several reports the use Excel, due to the formulas that have to be used and this works out great as the data has to be put into specific cells.
I have also developed some utilities that I can use with WINCMES that further aids in collecting data from WINCMES and transferring it into any of the MS Office Products. Example, I have a utility that will generate custom Report headers via a Graphical User Interface, at the same time will transfer this data into an Access Database which is used for tracking all parts being inspected and shows what kind of usage that our CMM is getting.
This utility works seamlessly in my CMM programs. It gets called from within the CMM part program itself and appears to an operator as those its all one program.
I am considering in the future of marketing these utilities.
