The number of reported cases of problems with magnetic bases, etc. are actually few and far between. Nevertheless, the TP20 is offered in a version that does not have the magnetic reed switch present for use in those rare instances. With reference to turning styli to "fish hooks", I would suggest the GF range which are very light, yet very stiff styli!!!!
