As with the introduction of other advanced software packages, Calypso went through the normal growing pains. In its early stages, some customers opted for a Calypso/U-SOFT combination system that allowed them to run their older U-SOFT part programs while learning Calypso.

Zeiss never instituted a policy to remove Calypso from the field. Today, it is successfully being used by more than 200 Zeiss customers in the United States.
