If you are measuring a FEAT/POINT in MODE/AUTO then the settings that affect it are APPRCH, SEARCH, RETRCT and CLRSRF.
The actions of a MEAS/POINT command are:
1. Move to CLRSRF above the target co-ordinates in the direction of the nominal vector.
2. Move to APPRCH above the target co-ordinates.
3. Move to the target co-ordinates until SEARCH past the target or a touch occurs.
4. Move to RETRCT above the actual touch point.
You can disable CLRSRF by setting it to 0.
Note, if you want total control over the CMM motion, set MODE/PROG and use GOTO and PTMEAS commands. Note, APPRCH is still applied to the PTMEAS command. You can control this by either issuing a PTMEAS without vectors or use UTILITIES>CONFIG>MORE from the main toolbox and toggle the "Use APPRCH on PTMEAS" checkbox. This will stop APPRCH being applied to the PTMEAS statement.
