As far as a general class to teach the basics of using a machine, I have never heard of one. However, you can contact any of the manufacturers and take their class for their software. You should learn the basic concept of machine operation. It will be software/manufacturer specific, but the concepts are the same. I had only used height gauges and a layout machine when I took my first class. I was able to run the machine well after the one week class. Obviously, the more you use it the better you get.
