Sometimes things in my area get very political between departments and people in general. Today I am measuring a part with a call out for perpendicularity of 0.002 to a datum surface. This is a first part approval for machining and a pretty important documentation procedure. I believe the parts to be functional and I believe the measures to be correct, but engineering seems to want me to omit that measure so they can pass the FPA. Though not stated in those words, it's definitely implied. They say that the machine this is for doesn't control that feature, since it's milled after the process in question. I say that it is both ways. Both features effect each other, there for that call out has to be met. I don't think it would be that big of deal if the machine hadn't already been running do to high production levels. The fact remains, even though a feature is tied to another feature that comes after the first process, the call outs must be met. We in manufacturing are suppose to process a part to the print, it doesn't specify how our in what steps (must times). Your opinions please.
